“Birch Group made history as the first deconstruction company in the nation to partner with local government to secure grant funding for commercial property projects.”

deconstruction

Before redevelopment transformed 200 East Chestnut Street in Stillwater, Birch Group was entrusted to lead the salvage of the former Chestnut Building, originally built in 1960. Rather than see this historic structure bulldozed into a landfill, ourteam carried out a full-scale deconstruction that preserved its story, piece by piece.

This project wasn’t just about materials. It was about changing the system. Birch Group became the first in the nation to receive grant funding and establish a groundbreaking partnership with Ramsey County and Washington County to support deconstruction over demolition.
